Of all those who have been to Zermatt, how many ha Of all those who have been to Zermatt, how many have seen water pouring over the Gorner gauge?  This was a cloudy day. The day before it was hot and water was pouring over. 

This was 4 hours before peak diurnal discharge! This summer ablation season will see more mass lost from glacier than ever before.

Difficult in Chamonix to get the exact before and Difficult in Chamonix to get the exact before and after as the tree line has risen up the mountains as our #climate has warmed.  Plus the Chamonix valley is almost completely urbanised.  That said, the glacier has long since retreated back towards the high peaks…

We really are in a climate emergency. There should be snow to the glacier. Not melted to where it would usually be by mid august.
